So, carefree and living it up for my 25th summer, eh? Not quite. Because you see, I made a commitment to an awesome project that I didn’t think was quite the commitment it turned out to be. Not that I’m complaining, because, really, community theater rocks and who doesn’t love cross-dressing magic fairies and rainbow scepters?
But, the production ends this weekend. I am sad about this, for I will miss my cast mates and all the insanity, but a part of me is relieved. I can get back to the rest of my life now, friends and dates I have put off. Road trips with friends. Cinema. Sleep. These are things I have missed since auditions in May. And so, I bring you a list, the things I am looking forward to doing and capping off this crazy, too fast, summer…
♣ Muse’s new disc dropping next month
♣ All of my travel spanning September through December (Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Myrtle Beach, Maine, NYC – at least)
♣ Doing all the fiction writing my little heart can take once I get up the nerve to dive back into NaNoWriMo in November.
♣ Finally getting to catch up on movies I missed.
♣ New York, I Love You
♣ Modest Mouse’s new album “No One’s First And You’re Next”
♣ Big Concerts!!!! My annual tradition of seeing Great Big Sea. Kings of Leon playing Merriweather, two years after I began trying to get tickets to see them.
♣ Where the Wild Things Are
♣ Getting my fourth tattoo: Live by the foma* that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy.
♣ Season 3 of Gossip Girl
♣ Finally starting (and sticking to *fingers crossed*) acoustic guitar lessons at CHAW
♣ Seeing a lot of my good friends get married (thus a lot of the travel)
♣ Sherlock Holmes (technically this winter, but whatever)
♣ Eventually shaking off the dog days of summer (and looking forward to the end of August’s humidity in three weeks’ time) with a new outlook, friends both old and new, and a genuine smile.
So tell me, what are some of the things you’ve missed out on this summer? What have you tried for the first time? What are you looking forward to all the way out there in September? Inspire me, folks, get me through the insanity of production week with a caffeine addiction, yeah?
Best,
Limbo
