#263; musical obsession of the country sort

I’m sure by now, especially if you follow my twitter feed, everyone has heard of my total obsession with the music of the new Grammy-winning duo The Civil Wars. I first heard their country hit “Barton Hollow” and followed it up with the outstanding “Poison & Wine”, which has to be the best country song I’ve heard in years. It’s layered, complex, beautiful storytelling on top of a professional harmony of the voices and music that gives me shivers.

I swear, John Paul White and Joy Williams could sing the alphabet and I’d buy the record. Do yourself a favor and listen now, listen hard, and listen good. They’re worth all the effort and then some.
